Finally the dress was revealed, a divine one-shouldered, chiffon white ball gown designed by Taiwanese-American Jason Wu.
The former 26-year-old student of the great Narcissco Rodriguez only debuted his first collection just three years ago, so it is an incredible coup for the young designer.
And how beautiful is it to see such a change in the Whitehouse, from the destructive, non-transparent Bush administration to this - a young family with a mum and dad who are still obviously very in love after 16 years, bringing a bit of cool back to the top job!
